Deputies honor Amsterdam student for Heimlich Maneuver

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Amsterdam High School student was awarded a life-saving certificate after performing the Heimlich Maneuver on another student in May. Deputies say Hector Martinez performed the Heimlich Maneuver on another student who was choking in the Amsterdam High School cafeteria.

Undersheriff Carl Rust presented Martinez with the certificate for his life-saving efforts.
