Amsterdam man gets over 10 years for child sex abuse images
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Amsterdam man was sentenced to over 10 years in prison on Monday for receiving child sexual abuse images. Thomas Love, 35, pleaded guilty to charges prior to sentencing.
According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), Love admitted to using the "dark web" to download depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The DOJ says he did so between January 2017 and October 2020.
The DOJ also says Love distributed such material on X (formerly Twitter) and a search of his electronic devices found he received and possessed over 300 files depicting child sexual abuse materials.
Love will serve a 20-year term of supervised release once he is out of prison. He is ordered to pay $9,000 in restitution to the victims, and he must register as a sex offender upon release.
