_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
A tropical cyclone will bring more widespread coverage of
intense downpours into parts of southern Louisiana and
especially across central and southern areas of Texas today,
with gusty winds and flooding likely in some spots. Showers
and some thunderstorms will also return to the Florida
Peninsula through the day as a plume of enhanced moisture
continues to progress over the state. North of there, much
of the area from the Southeast to southern New England is
expected to remain dry and hot. However, a band of at least
spotty thunderstorm activity will develop from eastern New
Mexico across the central Plains and into Wisconsin and the
Upper Peninsula of Michigan, with widely separated afternoon
thunderstorms forming over parts of the eastern Great Lakes
as the West stays mostly dry.
