JJ Redick News: NBA Finals, Duke Hall Of Fame And The Lakers Job All In One Week?
Could be.
There’s a lot of JJ Redick news right now but the one that surprises us the most is this: he was named to the Duke Athletics Hall of Fame.
What surprises us is that he left Duke in 2024 and he just now was named? Shouldn’t that have happened a long time ago? He’s only the all-time leading scorer for Duke and is the second all-time scorer in the history of the ACC. Also named: Monique Currie John Danowski, Matt Danowski, Anna Grzebien Vanderlinde, Abby Johnston McGrath, Quinton McCracken, Chris Port and Becca Ward.
Everyone is deserving but we’re pretty happy about the Danowskis, especially John. He came to Duke lacrosse during the hoax and not only has he been a superb coach, he has focused on character, which is what a coach should do.
Back to Redick.
Fresh off calling the NBA Finals, the tea leaves are suggesting he’ll be the Lakers next coach. Both Mike Breen and Jason Williams, both ESPN colleagues, appear to have hinted that he’s got the job. It’s not official yet but he reportedly interviewed very well and things are looking pretty positive.
