Burlingame looks to make some city-wide upgrades

BURLINGAME (KSNT) - Tuesday, June 18, Burlingame released a strategic plan to revitalize the city.

The city of around 950 people plans to revamp their downtown, while recruiting new businesses and homeowners to the area. However, the mayor and city clerk told 27 News the city doesn't have enough housing to fit its needs. Their number one priority is building more places to live.

Michelle Mullinix, the Burlingame Mayor, is in her second term and said she hopes to see the town lively once again.

"We're hoping to get the streets full again," Mullinix said. "It used to be you'd come downtown and there was cars all down the middle of the street. There was a restaurant in town. They'd be down drinking coffee. We just want some businesses and the people back interacting in town."

Burlingame also hopes to renovate its downtown street, which the city says is the widest brick road in the United States. The plan is scheduled to be completed by 2027.
