Report: Serie A club are hoping to sign Spurs player for just £6m this summer
According to the print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Genoa are hopeful that they can secure a permanent deal for Djed Spence for just around £6m.
Tottenham and Genoa are in Djed Spence talks
Several outlets over the last few weeks have reported that Genoa have begun talks with Tottenham over a deal to sign Spence.
This includes a report by Calciomercato on June 4, which stated that Genoa CEO Andres Blazquez had travelled to London to strike a deal with Spurs regarding the defender.
The outlet explained that the Serie A side did not want to meet the €10m (£8.5m) option to buy Spence in the loan agreement and were looking to sign the player on a discount.
Last week, Football Insider stated that the right-back was in ‘advanced talks’ over sealing a return to Luigi Ferraris Stadium.
Just a £6m fee for Djed Spence?
Gazzetta are now the latest to report on Genoa’s interest in Spence, stating that the Italian club are now trying to get the deal over the line.
It is alleged that there is hope at the Serie A club that a deal can be completed quite swiftly for a fee of around €7m-€8m (£5.9m-£6.7m).
Genoa are now said to be waiting for the 23-year-old’s green light and once that arrives, they believe they can make the deal official.
Spurs Web Opinion
It is surprising to see that no English club seems to have got involved in the race for Spence so far, given how highly rated the right-back was until two years ago.
Perhaps, the lack of interest is down to murmurs of the defender’s attitude problem.
