New Drug for UTIs Gets the Greenlight

The US Food and Drug Administration recently approved pivmecillinam, sold as Pivya, for uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) in females aged 18 years or older with no structural abnormalities of their urinary tract. UTIs affect about 50% of females at some point during their life, the FDA noted.
