Pop-up barbecue joint opening year-round spot in Latham

LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Nora and Joe Friedel opened Dotty Lou's BBQ in the fall of 2022 as a catering and pop-up operation. Now, they're opening a year-round location in Galleria 7 Market in Latham.

After running a successful pop-up on the back patio of Druthers' Clifton Park location, the Friedels worked on further developing the Dotty Lou's brand and recipes. Joe Friedel said they then signed a two-year lease in Galleria 7.

The Dotty Lou's menu for Galleria 7 features wings, ribs, brisket, pulled pork and chicken, pork belly, sides such as coleslaw, beans, potato salad, jalapeno cheddar mac, and fries, as well as hush puppies, fried green tomatoes, street corn, and more. "We have a handful of pop-ups scheduled but for now we will have to see how the opening pans out beforehand we take on more," said Joe Friedel. Upcoming pop-ups include Troy’s Rockin' on the River, Troy Pig Out, Opalka Gallery Pop-Up Beer Garden, and Fall Fest at Vosburgh Orchards. He said they will still be offering catering.

The Friedels are aiming to open Dotty Lou's BBQ to open in Galleria 7 the first week of August. The eatery will be open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
