Albany man accused of unlawful imprisonment

On June 12, around 3:20 p.m., troopers investigated a complaint regarding a past dispute. State Police say the investigation found Muniz physically assaulted and injured a victim while holding them against their will at a New Scotland home from Tuesday to Wednesday morning.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Albany man was arrested in connection to an assault that took place Wednesday morning. Jacob Muniz, 23, faces several charges.

On June 12, around 3:20 p.m., troopers investigated a complaint regarding a past dispute. State Police say the investigation found Muniz physically assaulted and injured a victim while holding them against their will at a New Scotland home from Tuesday to Wednesday morning.

Police say Muniz also refused to leave the home, stole the victim's phone, prevented them from calling 911, and damaged property. Additionally, following the initial crime, Muniz reportedly caused significant damage to the victim's car while in Albany.

  • Second-degree criminal mischief
  • Third-degree criminal mischief
  • Fourth-degree grand larceny
  • Third-degree assault (two counts)
  • Second-degree unlawful imprisonment
  • Second-degree criminal trespass
  • Fourth-degree criminal mischief

Muniz was arrested on a warrant at his home in Albany. He was taken to Latham State Police for processing and was taken to Albany County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
