On his @justgardens account, he wrote: “Mowing Hack to get your grass down easier.

“Long wet grass?

“Open up the mower flap, stand to one side and mulch the lot up.

“You’re very welcome.”

He demonstrated cutting his grass with the flap up to achieve a much neater result, and said his machine doesn’t tend to clog up.

The gardening pro added: “If you don’t have a powerful mower, I carry a stick around with me and if you see it starting to clog, use the stick to knock the grass out.”

His clip has racked up hundreds of likes, and people were quick to comment.

One shared: “or get a mower that will cut long wet grass.”

The gardening whizz replied: “yeah ..but bear on mind , they are hard to come by and expensive for people.”

One person swore by the hack, and said: “Yep / do it all the time – just have to be wary of rocks, stones or any twigs etc that may come flying your way.”

A third commented: “Giving away all the secrets.”

Despite it being possible to mow your lawn when it is wet, it is usually best to wait for it to be dry for your personal safety, the health of your lawnmower and for the best, most even cut.

Chances are you could be left with a very patchy looking lawn and the wet grass can also ruin your mower, which can be pricey to fix.

On a sunny day, waiting until mid-afternoon will usually guarantee your lawn has had chance to fully dry.

Depending on how wet your grass is, it might take a few hours or over a day to fully dry.

Always checking before you mow is the key to a lush lawn.
