Taking to the Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, she showed how she got some Fairy fabric softener, a bottle of Lenor and some Fairy Max Power liquid.

She explained how she hadn’t paid a penny for the cleaning supplies.

The shopper explained: “Thanks to whoever put the post up about tescos receipts.

“Just got all this for free.

“When you shop in Tesco make sure you click you want your receipt as it prints of vouchers for some free items, and these were mine.”

Although she got the vouchers at the self-service checkout, other people said they had managed to get them at the till.

Her post racked up hundreds of likes, with people quick to chime in on the Tesco deal.

One wrote: “I got it yesterday and I used the scanner. So it’s every till.”

Another shared: “Got one today for 25 fairy wash tabs. Great as we needed some!”

Meanwhile, one person commented: “I’ve never had one and my sister shop every week in Tesco as well.”

Some people said they had only just got their first receipt today during their shop.

A Tesco shopper added: “It’s random and it’s all tills not just self scan.”

It’s unclear whether the free vouchers are printed on receipts in every store, or how long it will go on for, but customers are advised to ask for one at the till nonetheless.

They also appear to be randomly distributed, so don’t feel too down if you don’t get an offer after your next shop.

Ways to spend less in a supermarket

Grocery inflation means we're all feeling the pinch but shopping with these points in mind could save you hundreds of pounds a year:

  • Avoid shopping at convenience stores – they charge more
  • Ask in-store at what times in the day are fresh food items reduced
  • Freeze yellow sticker items where you can
  • Plan meals ahead
  • Try own-label of budget brand alternatives
  • Use unit pricings to find the best deals

We previously shared how supermarket shoppers have vowed to “never buy prepacked onions again”.

It comes after a gardener and content creator shared a video across their profiles, where the price of bagged onions were compared to loose.

The video, which has been viewed by nearly 160,000 people on TikTok, before being shared on Facebook, shows the influencer pricing up loose vs bagged onions.

The shopper explained how during a recent visit to Asda, they “saw three onions wrapped up in netting” for 90p.

“So I wanted to find out how much three loose onions might cost by comparison,” they added.

The loose onions were taken over to the fruit and veg weighing scales and the price was checked out.

“The difference was honestly, a lot bigger than I expected,” the TikTokker explained.

Instead of 90p for three pre-packed onions, it was 35p for three loose onions.
