House of the Dragon fans furious after brutal death is ‘turned into a comedy’ in series two debut

HOUSE of the Dragon fans have taken aim at the show’s latest death scene that was compared to a ‘comedy’.

The smash hit series, which is a prequel to Game of Thrones, returned on Sunday night.

Viewers watched as stars such as Emma D’Arcy, Elliot Grihault and Matt Smith reprised their roles.

The series opened as Emma’s character Rhaenyra was still reeling following her son’s death.

In a brutal relation, Daemon had Alicent Hightower’s daughter kidnapped.

She was forced to pick which one of her sons would be executed in uncomfortable scenes.

Ultimately her son Jaehaerys is murdered by two men nicknamed Blood and Cheese.

However, House of the Dragon fans have taken aim at the storyline, furious that the death took place off screen.

One said: “They should’ve shown the decapitation of Jaehaerys.”

A second wrote: “I think Blood and Cheese was obviously less impactful than in the books.

“I wish they’d had Helaena begging for it to be her in the stead of one of her children, but I think it was always inevitable that they wouldn’t have shown the beheading itself.”

“It’s unlike them to shy away from such gruesome scenes and doesn’t fit the character of the dramatized franchise,” said a third.

While a fourth commented: “This was supposed to be brutal and gut wrenching, helaena was supposed to choose between her 2 sons (jaehaerys & maelor) and actually agonize over the decision…

“And then what that poor girl walked in on. The show just turned it into a comedy like i actually giggled.”

Helaena chooses her two-year-old son Maelor but after taunting the toddler, Blood beheads Jaehaerys in the end.
