Howie Mandel Found His Wife in Pool of Blood After Partying in Vegas

Howie Mandel opened up about a terrifying accident involving his wife of nearly 45 years, Terry Mandel, after what must have been a pretty wild night in Las Vegas. The America's Got Talent judge recalled the harrowing ordeal during an appearance on LIVE with Kelly and Mark this week, and said that earlier in the evening, the couple had been out having dinner at a nice restaurant.

However, the alcoholic beverages must have caught up with Terry, unbeknownst to Mandel, who initially didn't even realize that his wife was intoxicated.

"We partied—like, it was too much. And she was tipsy," he explained. "I did not know that, and in the middle of the night she got up and, I don’t know where she was headed, but she headed into the wall."

"And she fell and hit the wainscoting—I know that, because I watch HGTV, there was no shiplap, it was wainscoting," Mandel quipped. "She hit that as she went down. She slipped, went down, hit that on her eye, then fell on the floor, and broke her cheek."

"I heard, bang, and 'Ahhh!' and I woke up and I went, ‘Where are you?’" he said. "And she went ‘I don’t know.’ That’s what she said."

Mandel then brought up a photo of his wife that had been taken on the aftermath of her accident, in which she could be seen with a gash on her head and a heavily bruised eye. "This is my wife," he exclaimed. "People said, 'What happened?' She said, 'Vegas!'"

"She was on the floor," he recalled, detailing the immediate aftermath of the incident. "I go, 'Where are you?' I wake up, I turn on the light, I look around the bed, she’s in the corner, face down. And I didn’t know she’d cut her head. But blood is pooling."

"And I freaked out. I picked her up, I put her on the bed. There’s blood everywhere," Mandel continued. "I went and grabbed all the towels, and all the towels are covered with blood. And she’s going ‘Get me ice. Get me ice.’ I don’t know where to get ice."

Instead, Mandel grabbed two cans of soda from the mini fridge since they were cold, and wrapped them in a towel to put on his wife's head. However, she screamed in pain and tossed the makeshift compress across the room.

"When she did that, I saw her head, and you could actually see her skull. It opened up," he said. "So, I freaked. I went, oh my god, this is the love of my life."

Finally, Mandel called down to the front desk and asked them to call 911, and within seconds, had a small army of security guards at his door. After some initial confusion, Terry was finally taken to the hospital, still drunk from their evening out. In a second photo, she could be seen lying in a hospital gurney with a sheet half obstructing her face.

"She goes, 'Doctor, I can't see out of my left eye—I'm freaking out.' The doctor says, 'Just take the sheet off your face,'" he laughed. "That's how drunk she was!"

But as scary as the situation must have been at the time, it sounds like the couple has put it behind them. When asked how Terry was recovering from her accident, Mandel gushed of his wife: "She is absolutely perfect,. There is not a scar. She is beautiful."
