A senior police officer said the bridge, which was meant to connect Kursa Kanta and Sikty areas of Araria district, crashed into the river, however, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.

The exact cause of bridge collapse is not yet know and is being ascertained, the officer added.
As per officials, the bridge, constructed by the state government, was not opened to the public as approach roads to the bridge were yet to be constructed.
Reports said the bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs 12 crore and was soon meant to be thrown open for public use.
They said that three pillars holding up the bridge collapsed and sank into the Bakra river at Padariya Ghat, bringing down the entire structure.
The loud noise produced by the collapse caused panic among local residents who rushed to the spot to find out what had transpired.
Earlier, in March this year, an under-construction bridge over the Kosi river collapsed in Supaul district, leaving one person dead and 10 others injured.
Officials said the district administration has launched an investigation into the incident and cause of the collapse is being probed.
