New wine bar opening in Catskill

CATSKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Dori Fackler has been wanting to open a wine bar for over 20 years. Her dream is finally coming true as she's working on opening Chemistry Wine Bar at 354 Main Street in Catskill.

"I love Catskill," Fackler told NEWS10. "I just decided to go for it."

Fackler said the name "Chemistry" is representative of a few things: the chemistry behind wine, wine's chemistry with food, and the chemistry between people. Her father was also a chemist.

Chemistry Wine Bar will have a variety of wines from New York, sustainable wines, wines from classical regions, and special varieties. In addition to wine, the bar will have beer, hard cider, cheese plates, charcuterie, and other small plates.

"It's been really exciting," said Fackler. "It's a very historic space with wallpaper from 1850." Fackler said she's been buying antique furniture and other old items to match the space.

Fackler is aiming to open on June 28 or the first week of July. Chemistry Wine Bar is set to be open from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
