Oak Bench 3 is a minimalist bench created by Berlin-based studio DEGLAN. Each piece in the collection highlights the wood’s inherent character, including its bumps and bore holes, offering a distinct charm. Inspired by traditional Japanese woodcraft, the series embraces the warmth and coziness of natural materials. It contrasts with the sleekness of limestone or plaster furniture, presenting a rustic yet refined aesthetic. DEGLAN’s process respects the wood’s natural form while integrating Japanese techniques. This approach results in a seamless blend of cultural influences and craftsmanship. The collection exclusively uses oak wood paired with hard wax oil for durability and timeless appeal. Each piece begins with leveling the wood, followed by sculpting, meticulous sanding, charring, and brushing multiple times. The final finish involves layers of hard wax oil, enhancing the wood’s natural beauty and providing a rich, lustrous finish.
