Cooling Center locations in Warren County
WARREN COUNTY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- At least seven cooling centers will be open starting Tuesday in Warren County for parts of this week. The locations include Aviation Mall, Crandall Public Library, Caldwell-Lake George Library, Richards Library in Warrensburg, Lake Luzerne Senior Center, Bolton Free Library, and The Open Door Mission in Glens Falls.
“Anyone exposed to the heat is at risk for heat exhaustion or heat stroke, which can cause death," said Warren County Administrator John Taflan. "Symptoms of heat stroke include dizziness, thirst, heavy sweating, confusion, nausea, weakness, and fainting. People without effective cooling are at high risk, especially heat-sensitive groups such as children, the elderly, pregnant women, or those with a chronic illness. People should strongly consider canceling outdoor activities, remain hydrated, stay in a cool place (including during overnight periods), and check on their neighbors and pets. Use air conditioning if you have it, or find a location such as a cooling center with air conditioning.”
A heat advisory has been issued for the entire region from Tuesday afternoon until Thursday evening. Anyone with questions can call the Warren County Office of Emergency Services at (518) 761-6539 or the Warren County Health Services at (518) 761-6580.
