COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Five people are in the hospital after a crash in Franklinton on Monday afternoon that was the result of a fight over a child.

A Columbus police dispatcher said the crash occurred a little after 4 p.m. at the intersection of West Broad Street and North Davis Avenue.

According to Columbus Police Sgt. Joseph Albert, the incident started on Dana Avenue as two people in two separate vehicles began arguing over a child. One of the cars drove from the scene with a second car chasing it. One of those cars ran a red light, hitting a third vehicle; that vehicle then hit a fourth car.

The driver of the third vehicle hit is listed in critical condition; the drivers of the two cars involved in the chase as well as the child are all in stable condition, Albert said. A passenger in the third vehicle was also listed in stable condition.

Police initially reported the vehicle as stolen; however, a Columbus police spokesperson said that was not the case.

The crash remains under investigation.
