LANCASTER, N.Y. (WIVB) – A local man who lost mobility in his arms and legs due to multiple sclerosis is finding a way to create art and support charity.

Artist Alan Deacon creates watercolor paintings using a paintbrush attached to the brim of his hat -- a unique assistive device created by his son.

On Sunday, his creations were on full display during an art fundraiser at Harris Hill Nursing Facility in Lancaster.

The event raised funds to benefit Phoenix Rising Equine Rescue & Rehabilitation, a horse rescue organization operated by Alan and his wife.

Deacon said painting has opened unimaginable windows for him. He was diagnosed in 2005 and has been painting for about two years.

“I truly believe this is an answer to my prayers," Deacon said.

He also live streams his painting on Facebook on Wednesday and Friday nights.

Deacon can be contacted about his paintings, rescue, or donations though the contact info on his Facebook page.
