Summer season set to bring warm temperatures to Portland area
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The official start to summer is just days away and much of the Pacific Northwest will feel the heat by Thursday.
Summer-like temperatures are expected to build around the Portland, Vancouver metro area later this week. Portland's June gloom will quickly fade to dry, sunny and hot conditions by the start of summer on Thursday.
A ridge of high pressure will push Portland temperatures to nearly 90 degrees by the end of the week. This latest round of above-average conditions isn't expected to last long. Near-normal afternoon highs will return as early as the weekend.
This latest round of heat comes as Portland's monthly June temperature has sat above average by nearly a degree. This latest stent of heat followed by a cooling trend will likely have very little impacts on the month's departure from the average.
