Ian McKellen Falls Off Stage During London Performance, Hospitalized After Accident
Ian McKellen is recovering in the hospital right now after falling off stage in the middle of a performance.
The 85-year-old actor is currently starring in the play Player Kings on London’s West End and the accident occurred during a fight scene at the performance on Monday (June 17).
The BBC reports that Ian “fell off the front of the stage. As the house lights came up, the actor cried out and staff rushed to help.”

It’s unclear if Ian suffered any injuries during the fall, but BBC reports he was taken to the hospital. The audience was evacuated from the theatre after the accident and the rest of the performance was canceled.
An audience member told BBC, “I really hope that he is going to be alright. As far as I saw, he was conscious because he was asking for assistance.”
In a recent interview, Ian talked about possibly playing Gandalf again.
