This Celeb-Used Beauty Line Dropped New Vitamin C Products That Are My New Summer Skincare Go-To’s

The desire to tackle skin concerns can feel like something you have to do all the time. But, believe it or not, there are some seasons where combatting those concerns and doing specific treatments are better than others. If you know you want a chemical peel to shed some dead skin and treat dark spots; then there’s no better time than fall or early winter. But, if you want to see more benefits from vitamin C, it’s best to use it during the summer months, which is why Kopari Beauty’s latest launch would make the perfect addition to any summer skincare routine.
Earlier last month, the coconut-based beauty brand launched three new products with vitamin C as the focus — the Star Bright Vitamin C Moisturizer, Discoloration Serum, and Bright as Day Sheer Mineral Sunscreen. The latest drops were inspired by yummy tropical star fruits and their richness in vitamin C. But what makes these new products special and perfect for right now is that they were made with all skin tones and types in mind so that everyone can receive their excellent benefits during this time of year.
“Typically, pigmentation in darker skin tones is caused by inflammation, and a high amount or concentration of vitamin C can [also] cause inflammation,” Kopari Beauty Chemist, Krupa Koestline, shared with SheKnows. “Using those highly concentrated serums can be counterproductive for sensitive and darker skin types.” So, to make the formulas more suitable, Kopari created a “unique blend of super antioxidants including niacinamide, tranexamic acid, and Kakadu plum to improve the efficacy of the vitamin C.”
As someone who has melanated skin and experiences post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, I thought the new products would be just right for me. So, I spent the last few weeks testing them out, and here are my honest thoughts on my new favorite skincare products for the summer.
SUMMER PRODUCT LAUNCH
Star Bright Vitamin C Discoloration Correcting Serum
To get the most out of vitamin C, it’s best to use it in your morning routine. The active ingredient works as an antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties to help protect against natural free radicals and prevent more damage, like dark spots. After cleansing, I immediately apply the correct serum. If you look closely, you’ll see the serum is made with tiny yellow beads, which work as an encapsulated form of vitamin C to ensure its stability. The formula is gentle yet effective, blended with niacinamide, tranexamic acid, and Kakadu plum, which calms inflammation, targets dark spots, and improves skin tone.
Because vitamin C is in the form of beads, it forces you to press the serum into your skin for more absorption instead of just rubbing it around. It helps me be intentional about where I apply the serum and target specific areas. Since the formula is gentle and not highly concentrated, it’s safe to use daily. While my post-acne scars and post-inflammatory dark spots are very apparent, I’ve noticed the area around them is less harsh with consistent use. I will say that with this serum, it’s about the long-term results. It took me about three weeks to see a difference in my skin, which I don’t think is terrible. It’s about the long game regarding most skincare products; you’ll eventually see those long-term results with consistent use.
Star Bright Vitamin C Moisturizer
I was a little nervous about using two forms of vitamin C in one routine. However, considering that the Discoloration Correcting Serum is gentle, I didn’t feel the Star Bright Moisturizer would have any harsh or adverse effects. Quite frankly, this has become one of my favorite go-to moisturizers for the summer. Its incredibly lightweight formula contains vitamin C, niacinamide, star fruit, and panthenol. I find that my skin is nice and hydrated without feeling sticky, and perfect for a layer of SPF. While vitamin C protects your skin from environmental stressors, it works even better when sunscreen is used.
Bright As Day Sheer Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50
And speaking of sunscreen, Kopari’s latest in the SPF space is the perfect topper for your morning skincare routine. Like the previous two products, this new mineral sunscreen is also formulated with vitamin C. It also has niacinamide to protect the skin’s barrier, astaxanthin to protect from damage while hydrating dry areas, and ethically sourced mica to give you a radiant glow. And unlike most mineral sunscreens, this one doesn’t leave a white cast. It blends in really well on all skin tones. However, I’m not the biggest fan of mineral sunscreens, so I don’t reach for this one as often unless I know I will be in the sun all day or at the beach.
