‘Friends’ Fans ‘Disappointed’ by Krispy Kreme Collaboration

'Friends' fans were "disappointed" and confused by Krispy Kreme's donuts inspired by the American series, which are only available in certain regions.

Friends fans have been left puzzled and “disappointed” by Krispy Kreme’s new, peculiarly limited collaboration to celebrate the landmark sitcom’s 30th anniversary.

On Monday, certain Krispy Kreme locations unveiled four limited-edition donuts inspired by inside jokes from Friends. They include the classic Friends donut—an Original Glazed Krispy Kreme topped with chocolate icing, sprinkles, and a dusting of white chocolate; a classic ring donut dipped in purple icing and topped with mango and passionfruit frosting named the “How You Doin’?, after Matt LeBlanc’s catchphrase”; the “Trifle Friends Donut,” a strawberry and custard filled creation dusted with chocolate curls and green sprinkles; and the “We Were on a Coffee Break,” combining caffè latte-flavored icing with frosting and a chocolate swirl, finished with a white chocolate topper.

There’s just one catch: the delicious collab is only available at U.K. Krispy Kreme locations. The decision has been met with much disappointment amongst U.S. Friends aficionados, with many expressing confusion over why a partnership with a quintessentially American show is only available overseas.

“Could I be more disappointed this isn’t available here!” one fan wrote, mimicking the iconic catchphrase of late star Matthew Perry.

“This is where I am just confused by the decision-making process,” one fan wrote on Instagram. “Friends was a huge U.S. show (I know it is big internationally as well, but come on), yet this is a U.K. thing? I love getting to see all of these cool flavors and snacks, but it’s also showing me how much we miss out on,” they lamented.

One attentive fan popped in to explain the potential reasoning behind the exclusivity. “For whatever reason Britain is obsessed with Friends. They think it’s their connection to NYC. It’s so weird. Especially since the show is so old and the humor is quite opposite to the dry humor of true British comedies,” they explained.

However, some users were less concerned about the availability and more perturbed by the timing in general. “How is this even relevant? Friends was aired decades ago. It's old as hell,” one dissenting viewer opined.

Others were simply critical of Krispy Kreme’s devotion to the cause. “I love the names, I love the box, and I love the idea,” wrote an Instagram commenter. “But definitely not the most exciting flavors ever.”

Well, you can’t please everyone.

If you’re in the U.K., you can try one of Krispy Kreme’s delicious new creations. Everyone else can stream Friends on Max.
