Cause of death revealed in homicide of Loranger mother
TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WGNO) — The Tangipahoa Parish Coroner's Office has released the official cause of death of 35-year-old Callie Brunett.
It was revealed on Monday, June 17 that Brunett's preliminary cause of death was listed as "multiple sharp force injuries," according to Coroner Rick Foster.
He added that there were "multiple stab wounds to her head, neck, chest abdomen and back" along with what appeared to be "defensive wounds to her arms."
Brunett was found dead in the bedroom of her Loranger home on Thursday, June 13. Additionally, an Amber Alert was issued for her two children, who were allegedly abducted by 36-year-old Daniel Callihan.

The search for 6-year-old Jalie and 4-year-old Erin led deputies to Jackson, Mississippi, where they found Callihan, Jalie and the body of Erin in a wooded area.
During the investigation, Jackson Police Department Chief Joseph Wade said that there was possible evidence of human trafficking, including "small animal cages" found at the scene.
A second person was also arrested as an alleged accomplice. Victoria Cox, 32, now faces possible charges of capital murder.
As deputies walked Callihan to the police vehicle to be transferred, he allegedly admitted to the crime, stating that he deserves the death penalty.
The coroner's office has not yet released Erin's cause of death.
