CT man in custody after woman wakes up to find burglar in home
A man was arrested on multiple charges including burglary after police said he broke into in a woman’s Norwalk home in the early morning hours on Saturday after allegedly trying to stop her from calling 911.
Officers on Saturday just after 4:30 a.m. responded to a home on the report of a burglary after a woman said she woke up to find an intruder standing in her residence, according to Lt Tomasz Podgorski of the Norwalk Police Department.
The woman alleged that the intruder tried to take her phone as she dialed 911 and fled the residence shortly before officers arrived, Podgorski said in a statement.
Members of the police department’s Detective Bureau responded and assumed the investigation, which Podgorski said included processing the scene and reviewing video surveillance.
Detectives were able to identify the suspect as 29-year-old Jose Gomez-Gonzalez, according to Podgorski. He was arrested later in the morning on charges of first-degree burglary, interfering with an emergency call and disorderly conduct.
Gomez-Gonzalez was being held on $500,000 bond and was expected to appear before a judge on Monday.
