And what better addition to your championship spread than one of these fabulous football cakes?

But which is tastiest and the best value?

We asked Lynsey Hope to try a selection.

Here, she rates her favourites.

England Shirt

Serves 20 – Tesco, £13

The sponge was light and tasty and the jam was perfectly sweet

THIS was probably the stand-out cake in terms of design.

The kids were so excited by it.

The sponge was light and tasty and the jam was perfectly sweet.

Football Cake

Serves 16 – Asda, £11

It says it serves 16, but I would say 12 is more like it[/caption]

THE icing on this overly sweet bake separated from the cake when I tried to cut it, which was annoying.

It says serves 16, but I would say 12.

Football Crazy

Serves 12 – Sainsbury’s, £10

It lasted a good few days before going stale

SMALLER than most of the others but it had a lovely flavour, especially the buttercream.

And it lasted a good few days before going stale.

Jam-filled Muffin

Serves 1 – Lidl, 99p

A nice addition to any Euro party spread

COULD have done with a little more jam, but actually I really enjoyed this moreish treat.

These would definitely make a nice addition to any Euro party spread.

Not the easiest to cut, but a great value option[/caption]

THIS simple vanilla sponge filled with buttercream and fruity jam really hit the spot.

It is soft and sugary, but not too sweet.

Not the easiest to cut, but a great value option.

Star Player Cake

Serves 16 – Morrisons, £10

I probably wouldn’t choose this again[/caption]

I LIKED the appearance but the sponge was a bit dry and went stale very quickly.

The icing was incredibly sweet.

A good price, but I probably wouldn’t choose this again.

Football Smash Dome Cake

Serves 16 – M&S, £18

It was a bit of a mess but the kids had great fun[/caption]

HIDDEN inside this white and milk chocolate treat is an edible trophy and shortcake balls.

The cake itself is a layered madeira sponge.

It was a bit of a mess but the kids had great fun.
