Rain delays toss between New Zealand and Papua New Guinea at T20 World Cup

TAROUBA, Trinidad (AP) — Rain delayed the toss for the Group C game between New Zealand and Papua New Guinea at the T20 World Cup on Monday.

Officials initially thought the game could start with a 30-minute delay at 10:30 a.m. local time (1430 GMT) after showers stopped for a brief time, but the toss was further delayed after the rain returned.

Both New Zealand and Papua New Guinea are already out of contention for the second round.

New Zealand lost to Afghanistan and West Indies in its first two games to end any hope of advancing from the group. It only beat Uganda in its third game and has two points.

Papua New Guinea lost against West Indies, Uganda and Afghanistan.

West Indies and Afghanistan have advanced from Group C.
