Gordon Ramsay Offers Bike Safety Lessons in Father’s Day Post
Gordon Ramsay used Father’s Day to be all our dads and school us on bike safety. “This week, unfortunately, I had a really bad accident,” he said in an Instagram video, “and it really shook me. And honestly? I’m lucky to be here.” Ramsay then lifted up his shirt to reveal a bruise on his torso the same color as the chef’s signature beef wellington. The Hell’s Kitchen star says the only thing that kept him out of heaven’s kitchen (a.k.a. dying) was his bike helmet. “I don’t care how short the journey is, I don’t care the fact that these helmets cost money. They’re crucial.” Ramsay then wished all the fathers a very happy Them Day, and reminded us all that an important part of fatherhood is not dying by preventable accidents. L&M Hospital, where Ramsay was treated, said in a statement that “Helmets decrease the risk of head injury by 48%, serious head injury by 60%, traumatic brain injury by 53%, face injury by 23%, and the total number of killed or seriously injured cyclists by 34%.”
An important #FathersDay message from me…WEAR A HELMET ! This week I had a bad accident while riding my bike in CT. I'm doing ok and I’m thankful for all the doctors, nurses and staff at @LMHospital who looked after me but most thankful for my helmet that saved my life. Be Safe pic.twitter.com/UMjaoXGpkc
