ALDI has announced which of its 30 stores are set for a major overhaul this summer – find out if you’ll be affected.

The German supermarket is set to invest more than £90 million on store improvements throughout 2024 with over 100 stores across the UK in line for an upgrade.

Changes will vary across store levels but will focus on providing more space to shop for customers.

Aldi supermarkets will also incorporate more sustainable features as part of the store overhaul, with energy efficient technology being used to install doors on fridges.

Other improvements will include updated signage, and redesigning store layouts.

Aldi have confirmed that the majority of work will take place across June, July and August.

Customers are advised to check in with their local stores to find out the exact start dates for when work will begin.

Stores in Leek and Brierley Hill in the West Midlands, and Newport in Wales, will undergo the biggest changes.

Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, said in a press release that the changes are being made to accommodate the increasing number of customers in stores.

“Aldi attracted more new customers than any other grocery retailer in the last 12 months,” he said. “And we want to continue to offer the best possible in-store experience for our shoppers.”

Neale continued: “We’re committed to making sure that the shopping experience is on a par with the high-quality products and service we offer.

“Finding ways to reduce any environmental impact as we continue to grow our store estate across the country is also a vital part of these changes.”

Elsewhere, shoppers and locals have been left distraught after the Post Office confirmed it is closing one of its “best” branches.

The Post Office said the location, with shop inside, is closing after the postmaster resigned.

A major bargain chain store with over 850 branches is also set to close its doors forever.
