Mariners Moose Tracks, 6/16/24: George Kirby, Casey Sadler, and Snoop Dogg
It’s Sunday, and if it’s Sunday, it’s Meet the Links.
In Mariners news...
- Incredibly disappointing that Fanatics/Nike were unable to provide the full Steelheads uniforms, as they are some of the cleanest uniforms in the entire league, but I am glad the Mariners are still committed to honoring the Steelheads every year in whatever way they can.
A tip of the cap to Seattle baseball history.

We’ll be wearing our Seattle Steelheads hat with our home white jersey as part of African American Heritage Day: A Juneteenth Celebration at the ballpark tonight. pic.twitter.com/dWglD9WGob
- I was told George was having a down year.
This is what commanding the zone looks like.

- Kirby Snead will return...
Roster move: LHP Kirby Snead cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma.

Around the league...
- Snoop Dogg with an unironically fantastic call on this play, pivoting on a dime as Elly takes away a would be base-hit with a fantastic defensive play.

- Future Hall of Famer Justin Verlander was scratched from his start yesterday. Verlander revealed he’s been suffering from neck discomfort for a couple weeks that, according to Verlander himself, appears to have been affecting his mechanics his last couple starts.
- You can retire the Stephen Strasburg, but the idea lives on for eternity.

THAT’S THE LIST!

- The career arc of Kris Bryant deserves significantly more thought and attention than I can give it in a simple moose tracks blurb, so I’ll simply say “it wasn’t supposed to be this way,” and leave it at that for now.
#Rockies Kris Bryant is eligible to come off the 10-day IL for a rib contusion, but he has now been diagnosed with an oblique strain following a recent MRI.

There is zero timetable for his return.
- Former Mariners bullpen ace Casey Sadler is delaying his return to baseball until 2025, instead hoping to tutor at pitching clinics, and pursuing a career in real estate. I am very confident that Casey Sadler will make a triumphant return to the league next season and any team will be very lucky to have him. Sadler hasn’t pitched in a Major League game since 2021.
To my loyal fans: I am pausing baseball conditioning until ST. The timing for a return this season does not make sense for my family or me. In the meantime, I want to give back, sponsoring a few free pitching clinics, so if you have a team, school, or organization in mind, share… pic.twitter.com/oKITUXQ0Mq

- Former Mariner, and current Reds pitching prospect Brandon Williamson intends to forego surgery to treat a lesion in his throwing shoulder, instead opting for a series of injections and rest intended to treat the injury.
