‘Love these’ cry Home Bargains shoppers clearing shelves of ‘lovely’ plant scanning for just £1.99 – cheaper than Wilko
SAVVY shoppers have their sights on a much-loved plant that Home Bargains has on sale for just £1.99.
A thrifty buyer shared her steal with a bargain-hunting Facebook group, claiming she purchased the plant marked down from £5.99.
Karolina Doyle posted a photo of an Acer plant, saying she bought it on the cheap from the budget-friendly store chain.
She said: “Home bargains got outdoor plants cheap. This was 1.99 from 5.99.”
In response, Theresa commented: “Love these.”
Laura said she’d already placed hers in some soil: “I got one. Just planted.”
Shoppers were in late May clearing the shelves at Home Bargains of the Acer plant, commonly known as maple leaf, after it was scanning for £3.79.
The plants offer colourful foliage and don’t require a great deal of maintenance, making them the ideal addition to the garden.
A shopper previously posted to Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, saying they bought several from their local branch.
The bargain hunter said: “Huge rhodi & 5 x 50cm Acer great bargain.”
One shopper congratulated thenas “lucky” and another said “I bought three today”.
A third user said: “I got an Acer for Home Bargains a few years ago it was about £2 only tiny and on its last legs and it’s growing absolutely lovely now.”
Now it appears they have been marked down even more, with the £1.99 price tag certain to excite those looking for bargain-but-beautiful additions to the garden.
But keen gardeners will have to go searching in their local Home Bargains store because the plant isn’t available online.
To avoid wasting time, it could be worth calling ahead.
The Home Bargains website also includes a store locator to find out the nearest near you.
To compare with other shops, Wilko currently lists the plant online for £17, although it does come with a pot.
The description of the plant is glowing.
It says: “This stunning plant can impact your garden for years to come.
“It remains fully hardy even in the coldest winters as it loses its leaves in winter, only to burst with incredible colour in spring.
“The stunning foliage changes colour throughout the year, producing a fantastic array of colours in autumn.”
