YOUR Samsung phone has a powerful cell-upgrading settings menu that you may have missed.

It takes seconds to find once you know it’s there – and it can serve up boosts to both battery life and performance.

It’s called the Device Care menu, and it’s been available on several generations of Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

But the menu settings might have slightly different names or locations depending on your phone model and software version.

“With the Device care feature, you can optimize the performance of your smartphone and check the status of several areas such as battery, storage and much more,” Samsung explains.

“With a single touch, you will be able to know how your smartphone is performing and if you are using it properly.”

HOW TO FIND DEVICE CARE

Finding the Device Care menu on Samsung phones is very easy.

Just unlock your Samsung phone and then go into your device settings.

Now scroll down and tap on Battery and Device Care.

From there you’ll be able to check up on parts of your smartphone, including battery.

You’ll also be able to see your available storage, memory, and how protected your device is.

These menus have very valuable settings.

The main menu has an Optimize Now button that generally improves device performance and battery life

You can also set up your Samsung phone to automatically optimize.

For instance, you could have it run the optimization every single day at 3 am.

This means you won’t be using it during the optimization, and your phone will be fresh and ready to go when you wake up in the morning.

Additionally, going into the battery part of your phone will let you tweak the power usage of your phone.

You can activate Power Saving mode, or limit the background usage of certain apps.

If you go into storage, you can clean up some space.

This can improve performance if you’re extremely low on storage.

Samsung charging tip – how to charge best

Here's Samsung's official advice...

To get the most out of your smartphone’s battery, you’ll need to charge it properly.

Most Smartphones have a lithium-ion battery that lives longer when charged regularly.

Unlike the nickel batteries used in older phones, lithium-ion batteries do best when kept above a 50 percent charge.

Repeatedly allowing the battery to drain fully may shorten its life and decrease its overall capacity.

If this happens, you’ll need to charge the battery more frequently and it may last only a few hours before needing a charge, for example.

Leaving the phone connected to the charger (when the phone is completely charged) while you are using it may lower battery life if you do it repeatedly.

And when you check your Memory settings, you can free up memory instantly by tapping the Clean Now button.

This stops background apps and frees up RAM, which can improve performance.
