Last-minute NYC Father’s Day ideas: concerts, brunches and more

NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – Looking for a last-minute Father’s Day plan in New York City?

There are still a number of concerts, brunches and outdoor adventures to celebrate dad across all five boroughs. 

Father’s Day is sure to be beautiful in the tri-state area, with sunny skies and low humidity in the forecast. But if you’re staying home, test out one of these recipes fit for a king to impress pop. 

If you’re looking for a way to get out of the house, many of these events are free and some still have paid tickets available. 

Here are some Father’s Day events in New York City: 

  • Father’s Day Aquatic Insects Exploration
    • Where: Baisley Pond Park; Baisley Blvd. and 157th Street
    • What: Explore Baisley Pond for aquatic insects and invertebrates with Urban Park Rangers. 
    • When: Sunday 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
    • Cost: Free
  • Fathers day big band celebration,
    • Where: Birdland Jazz Club; 315 W 44th Street. 
    • When: Sunday 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. 
    • What: Listen to the music of Svetlana’s Big Band, a classic big band ensemble. 
    • Cost: $24.91 and up. 
  • Kick Axe Father’s Day Celebration
    • Where: Kick Axe Throwing Brooklyn; 622 Degraw Street Brooklyn
    • When: Sunday 11:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m. 
    • What: Dads get free beer when they hit the bullseye at an all-day axe throwing event in Brooklyn. 
    • Cost: Registration is free but normal axe throwing costs will apply. 
  • The Rock and Roll Playhouse plays the Music of Grateful Dead
    • Where: Brooklyn Bowl; 1 Wythe Avenue
    • When: Sunday, 12:30 p.m.
    • What: Jam out to the music of the Grateful Dead and bowl with the family in Brooklyn. 
    • Cost: $24.95 per person
  • Father’s Day brunch trivia
    • Where: Arlo Williamsburg; 96 Wythe Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11249
    • When: Sunday 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. 
    • What: Test dad’s skills on movies and TV, pop-culture, history, literature, geography and everything else under the sun!
    • Cost: free registration
  • The Dad Games
    • Where: Dave & Buster’s Staten Island; 2655 Richmond Ave. 
    • When: Sunday 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. 
    • What: Battle the family in Dave &Buster’s first-ever dad games – the winner could get free game play for a year at Dave & Buster’s. 
    • Cost: $34.62 per ticket. 
  • Montefiore Medical Center Hero Dads Father’s Day Event
    • Where: St James Park; 2550 Jerome Avenue
    • When: June 18 from 3 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. 
    • What: Scavenger hunt, raffles, ice cream, games and more.
    • Cost: Free
