Mark Wright’s 91-year-old grandfather rushed to hospital as family urge him to ‘stay strong’
MARK Wright’s granddad is spending Father’s Day in hospital after a horror fall.
The star’s father, ‘Big’ Mark Wright, shared a photo of his 91-year-old dad Eddie on Instagram to share what had gone on.
In the picture, Eddie is beaming as he sits in the passenger seat of a car, looking dapper in a navy blue check suit and leather jacket.
Mark wrote: “Happy fathers day to the best unfortunately in hospital at the moment after a fall a couple of days ago but dad I’m on my way up to see you now keep strong xxx”
Other family members, including Natalya Wright and Sadie Stuart-Wright, shared the sentiment with heart emojis.
Others sent their love, with one writing: “Happy fathers day, get a very good speedy recovery”
“A lovely man with the most warming smile, get well soon! x” said another.
Eddie, a former champion boxer and paramedic, has joined in on the family limelight over the last few years.
Most notably, he joined grandson, Mark Jr., for BBC series Who Do You Think You Are? in 2019, where they discovered a Jewish ancestor was tortured during the Spanish Inquisition.
Eddie didn’t know much about his family history, with Mark wanting to help him discover his roots.
Mark spoke fondly of his grandfather, and told This Morning at the time: “He’s done so much for our family, our granddad, all our lives.
“He is our king, and the best granddad you could ever have. It’s hard to repay him for how much he’s done.
“This was that moment I could say, before it’s too late, I’ve been able to give this back.”
It’s unknown when the accident happened, but Mark appeared to be in good spirits regardless.
Today, he drove to Germany today with Olly Murs in order to see England play, sharing videos from their road trip as they tried to track down food ahead of the game.
