She’ll only match your freak if you’re nasty. Ms. Jackson remixed her own song “Nasty” with Ms. Tinashe’s “Nasty” during her concert last night in Utah during her Together Again tour. This morning, Tinashe reacted to a video of the performance at a loss for words: “Woahhhhh …” Jackson has been a huge inspiration for Tinashe; a few years ago, she tweeted that Jackson is one of her “biggest idols.” The next generation of artists has been showing Jackson a lot of love lately: Taylor Swift name-dropped her in “Snow on the Beach” a few years ago, and just recently, Victoria Monet paid homage to her zoot suit in her “Alright” music video. Now Jackson is showing love right back, and Tinashe has an answer to her question. A truly full circle moment for freak matching.
