Victim in February fatal Marine Drive crash identified
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The woman who was killed in a two-car crash near Portland International Airport - resulting in the arrest of the other driver for manslaughter back in February - has been identified, authorities say.
On Feb. 23, when responding to a report of the crash in the 7000 block of Northeast Marine Drive, officers and EMS found 75-year-old Bonny J. Heyn dead at the scene behind the wheel of her vehicle.
The driver of the other vehicle, identified by police as 22-year-old Maria Moncada, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and officers reported no passengers in either of the vehicles.
Officials say the investigation revealed that Moncada was speeding westbound in a 2013 BMW 3-series on Northeast Marine Drive when she left her lane and crashed into the back of a 2015 Honda Fit that was stopped on the shoulder. She is believed to have been intoxicated at the time, authorities say.
After her release from the hospital, Moncada was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of first-degree manslaughter, DUII (Alcohol) and reckless driving.
At her arraignment in March, she pled not guilty on all charges.
