An unusual abduction ends with the woman unharmed
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Friday afternoon took a scary turn outside the Mayflower Market in Northwest Oklahoma City when a 43-year-old woman was kidnapped in broad daylight.
An emergency alert highlighted across many Oklahoman's phones when Isabel Brown was kidnapped by several men wearing ski mask's and were allegedly armed with guns.
"One of the customers noticed some commotion outside, so she was just like, what's going on out there? So then I got up to go look to see what was happening, and it looked like two guys with guns were grabbing a woman and pushing her into the car," said Jessica Mueller, a witness of the kidnapping.
Mayflower Market employees and customers were going about their day until suspicious activity started happening in the parking lot.
"I heard a scream and I saw two guys in a car pull up," said Raycene Moore, another witness of the kidnapping. "The guy got out the driver's side and snatched her and one got out of the passenger side and they put her in a car and they had what looked like a gun held up to her head."
Oklahoma City police arrived on scene shortly after.
"A little bit before 3:00 this afternoon, we got several reports that a woman may have been kidnapped from this Coffee Jerks back here behind me, forced into a vehicle by three men wearing ski masks, possibly with guns," said Aaron Brilbeck, Public Information Officer with OKCPD.
Witnesses say it didn't look like a kidnapping at first.
"It was kind of surreal," Mueller said. "It was honestly, is this really happening? You know, she did scream, but the way that it just happened, it just seemed a little bit odd. Something about it didn't seem right necessarily. Even the guns looked a little bit off."
"Afterwards, they put her in a car and they drove off kind of slow out of the parking lot," Moore said.
Officers say she was found within an hour of the kidnapping, safe and unharmed, but aren't sure how she got away.
"Approximately 40 minutes later, she was found, she's in good condition," Brilbeck said. "We're still trying to figure out exactly what happened, how she was able to get free from from these three guys."
The investigation is still in the early stages, but the suspects are still out there and have not been identified.
Brilbeck says they are hoping witnesses and surveillance video will help the police find the suspects.
