Grasso’s Garage: 2024 Polaris XPedition XP 5 Northstar over the top off-roading
As Polaris wants a slice of the review, they enter Grasso’s Garage with one fun machine; the 2024 Polaris Xpedition XP 5 Northstar. This 4-door, 5-seater side-by-side, puts safety as their top priority with seat belts present and an array of other safety features. Heat, air conditioning, Ride Command GPS Technology, JBL Trail Pro 4100 Audio system, mirrors, padded console and painted interior accents, enclosed cab, power windows, tip-out front glass and 140 amp alternator for all your charging needs are just a few of the items noted on our 2024 tester.
Powering the Xpedition XP, is a class leading 114 horsepower engine that produces some serious ambient noise. Almost as loud as a supercar, the Xpedition XP rumbles around at around 6,000 rpm when cruising out in the open at 60 mph and will easily shut out a lawn mower or leaf blower. I’m not certain as to why this is so loud, but it has that aura to it that it means business. With over 15-inches of suspension travel, the Xpedition XP offers 600 lbs of dumping capacity, a 60/40 rear flip seat and sits at 64 inches wide. 2 exterior color options are offered, our Matte heavy metal tester and popular army green. Our tester also came with the Overland accessory package. For an additional $13K which included over 28 additional items including a roof top tent, winch, racks, guards, Spare tire, LED lights and much more, certainly drove the price over the cost of a new Jeep Wrangler.
Although the Polaris Xpedition XP has a purpose and certainly satisfies all of your off-road wants and needs, the noise that it puts off requires earplugs. The JBL radio does wonders for riders on the inside, but that humm from the engine is always present. On our decibel reader, we witnessed 119 decibels when we pushed it to capacity, which is similar to a fire truck siren. Although comfortable and useful, the Xpedition XP is easily a looker, user-friendly and one that will bring all of the attention anyone could ever want.
