The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation of the Taliban has reported the expulsion of over five thousand Afghan refugees from Pakistan and Iran.

The ministry announced today, June 15, in a press release that 4,881 people were expelled from Iran and 775 from Pakistan.

The Ministry of Refugees stated in a press release that the returnees entered the country on the thrusday and friday.

According to the press release, these refugees entered the country through the Islam Qala, Torkham, and Spin Boldak borders after being expelled.

Afghan refugees are being expelled from Pakistan as the deportation of Afghan nationals from neighboring countries, especially Iran and Pakistan, has significantly increased in recent months.

This forced deportation is happening amid a dire humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, where many people are facing severe hardships due to ongoing conflict and economic instability.

Moreover, there are significant security risks for these returnees, including the threat of persecution against former Afghan security officials who are at high risk of retribution from militant groups.

Additionally, there has been an alarming increase in militant attacks within Pakistan, exacerbating the already tense situation between the two countries and contributing to the regional instability.
