South African President Cyril Ramaphosa re-elected for second term

During the first sitting of the 7th Parliament's National Assembly, South Africa's ruling party, the African National Congress (ANC), re-elected President Cyril Ramaphosa. The ANC announced his re-election on X. This follows the ANC's formation of a coalition government with the main opposition and other parties, after losing its majority in the recent election. Ramaphosa received 283 votes out of 339, defeating Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema, who received 44 votes.
