Jesse Plemons Clears Up Rumors He Used Ozempic to Lose Weight
Jesse Plemons has been sporting a noticeably slimmer figure as of late, and his weight loss transformation just happened to coincide with the Ozempic craze, which many celebrities have used to trim down over the past couple of years. However, the Breaking Bad alum says he achieved results without the aid of a semaglutide.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times published on Thursday, Plemons reveals that he first decided to drop the pounds for his brief, yet memorable role in his wife Kirsten Dunst's dystopian thriller Civil War, after being called in at the 11th hour when another actor dropped out. Inadvertently, the new look ended up working to his benefit for his latest project, Kinds of Kindness, director Yorgos Lanthimos' follow-up to his Oscar-winning film Poor Things.
However, the 36-year-old admits that he knew there would be speculation about how exactly he was able to shed the pounds.
"It’s really unfortunate that I decided to get healthy when everyone decided to take Ozempic," Plemons explained. "It doesn’t matter, everyone’s going to think I took Ozempic anyways. But what it was was getting older and—I hate even getting specific because then it turns into a whole thing, but there was a part that I did that in my mind I could not imagine him as the size that I was."
"Several people talked to me about intermittent fasting and I just gave it a shot and [was] surprised at how quickly it was effective," he continued. "So I lost a little bit before I did that part and then felt like I was in the rhythm, I was feeling better, and something shifted in my head. I just sort of got a handle on it."
Though many people swear by intermittent fasting, a recent study found that it's the overall calories consumed, not the window of time that they are being consumed in, that ultimately leads to weight loss. That said, the diet plan can still be beneficial if people consume fewer calories in the window of time allotted for meals.
And clearly, it's working for Plemons.
