Two arrested in Canaan following stop on Berkshire Spur

CANAAN, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- State police reported the arrest of two people from New Jersey following a traffic stop in Canaan on the I-90 Berkshire Spur. Stepha Desronvil, 37, of Union, and Rachael Dittmer, 27, of Morristown, are both facing multiple charges.

On June 12 around 5:15 p.m., troopers pulled over a Dodge Durango for vehicle and traffic law violations. During the ensuing investigation, state police say the car's driver and passenger, identified as Desronvil and Dittmer respectively, were allegedly found to be in possession of quantities of cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, oxycodone, Xanax, and dextroamphetamine, as well as over $10,000 cash.

Desronvil and Dittmer were taken into custody at the scene. They both face the following charges:

  • Two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • Two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance

Desronvil and Dittmer were arraigned at the Town of Claverack Court. Dittmer was then released on her own recognizance, while Desronvil was remanded to the Columbia County Jail.
