Jennifer Lopez Latest Move Proves She's the Coolest Stepmom — Or That the Divorce Rumors Are Just That

We have not been able to get a read on “Jenny from the Block” lately! One day she’s reportedly in a bitter breakup from [estranged?] husband Ben Affleck, and the next, she’s a superstar stepparent. And so her latest move has us thinking she’s either the coolest stepmom out there or the divorce rumors are exactly what they sound like: rumors.

The singer is mom to 16-year-old twins Max and Emme who she shares with ex Marc Anthony. Meanwhile, Affleck shares Samuel, 12, Seraphina, 15, and Violet, 18 with ex-wife Jennifer Garner. And even though Lopez did not join her [maybe] hubby, her [maybe] mother-in-law, and Garner on Samuel’s last day of school, she’s still maintaining a relationship with her stepkids.

The Monster-in-Law actress was seen having lunch with Violet at the Maybourne Hotel in Beverly Hills yesterday, per Page Six. And wow! Divorces can get messy. And after being Violet’s stepmom for so long, we would hope that they could maintain some sort of relationship if there was a split, but a public outing mid-break up?! I would imagine J. Lo is in all the feels if these rumors are true. And maybe I’m just immature, but I don’t know that I could take my stepkid out to lunch right. now.

So either Lopez is super cool, confident, and mature by putting her stepdaughter first, or, the rumors are nonesense.

And honestly, I’m thinking both are true. I do think Lopez is a confident queen, but I also think all the noise about her and the DunKing calling it quits are just “insiders” running their mouths. And I’m not the only one who thinks so.

Experts believe the rumors are fully “fabricated” to distract fans from Lopez’s less-than-impressive movie and tour sales. PR expert Mayah Riaz expanded on this theory, pointing out how the singer made multiple changes to her tour before canceling it entirely.

“It’s no wonder there’s speculation about the divorce rumors surrounding her and Ben. [They] could have been created to distract from her career downfall,” Riaz said. “It is not uncommon for celebrities to face speculation and rumors, particularly during challenging times in their careers.”

“Divorce rumors or personal life distractions can sometimes be used as a strategy to divert attention from any professional setbacks,” she continued.

Now, all the attention is instead on the state of her marriage and her outings (or lack thereof) with her stepkids instead of on possibly her singing to half-filled arenas. If it is indeed all for show, it’s a bit of a pick-your-poison situation, ya know?

Who knows! All I know is that if the breakup is happening (or imminent), it’s super freaking cool of Lopez to be maintaining such a sweet relationship with her stepdaughter in the eye of the storm.
