‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Untucked’ season 6 episode 6 recap: ‘The National Drag Convention Roast’
“RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” continued its 9th season on Friday, June 14 with the sixth episode featuring returning queens from seasons past. In the sister series “Untucked,” now in its 6th “All Stars” season, the queens throw back a cocktail and dish the dirt backstage on the latest challenge. This week the queens roasted each other in “The National Drag Convention Roast,” tasked with making a live audience and the judges laugh at the expense of each other. Prior to RuPaul Charles announcing the official top two performers of the week that would earn the coveted Beautiful Benefactress Badges, the queens gathered backstage to discuss the week and their chances at winning.
As soon as the girls arrived in the lounge from the Main Stage, they were gagged to be greeted by Bob the Drag Queen. They told Bob, because she asked, that they think Jorgeous, Plastique Tiara and Shannel are the likeliest winners of the week. Bob was surprised that some of the girls not known for being funny were still “crushing it” in the competition. Shannel was unconvinced that she was among the top and pivoted the conversation over to Angeria Paris VanMichaels who she thought was stronger. Bob was also interested in hearing about what it’s like for no one to go home, about the experiences of the queens returning for a third season, and if they have predictions about which queen will win the season. In the room, it was apparent that something was going on with Gottmik because of her short answers and the silence that spread when Bob asked if everyone is getting along.
Later, when guest judge Ruta Lee came to speak with the queens the topic turned to what it’s like building and living such a lasting career in show business. Ruta reminded them that second-guessing yourself is a trap and to believe in a higher power with gratitude for the good things that come your way. Then, as they prepared for the possibility of lip syncing for the win, Angeria decided to once again change her outfit in anticipation even if it means the other girls continue to think of her as a delusional queen. As it turns out, Angeria was in the top this time and defeated Plastique in the one-on-one. Serving payback on top of payback, Angeria returned the Ruby Snippers to Roxxxy Andrews and blocked her from winning a badge next week. As expected, Roxxxy vowed to return the favor (again) in Angeria’s direction should she get the chance (again).
