Schenectady man arrested for fleeing police, drugs
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A Schenectady man was arrested for allegedly possessing drugs after attempting to flee police on Wednesday. Ricky Rickson, 53, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawfully fleeing a police officer, according to police.
Charges
- Two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle
Troopers stopped a car on Broadway in Schenectady, and as the officer approached, the car fled. Police said they followed the car until they lost sight of it. Police found the car on Olean Street, where Rickson was arrested.
When Rickson was transported to the State Police barracks in Latham, police found felony-weight narcotics and other drugs in Rickson's possession. He was arraigned in Schenectady County Court and ordered to remain in Schenectady County Jail without bail.
