They found what? Ski resort finds odd litter on mountain during cleanup

DENVER (KDVR) — After the snow melted in Breckenridge, the Colorado ski resort set out to clean the mountain — but crews found more than just loose mittens and ski poles.

The Breckenridge Ski Resort told Nexstar's KDVR they sent 200 employees across three peaks to search for discarded items toward the base areas and the lower mountain. After three hours, workers brought back all sorts of litter.

Some of it was to be expected, like dozens of lost poles, skis and mittens. Crew members also picked up items like AirPods and IDs. Meanwhile, some found vapes, beads and even a frisbee. But those finds were far from the oddest on the mountain.

Some riders this winter had more in their coat pockets than just wallets and snacks.

On Wednesday, Breckenridge Ski Resort posted a video of their cleanup efforts. Among the dozens of mittens, poles, loose skis and even a rental snowboard, the video shows crews also picked up a huge empty jug of barbeque sauce, a full uneaten pineapple and even someone's Invisalign.

The video shows bones were found on the mountain as well, although the crew didn't consider those trash, according to the video.

While many viewers on social media found this video hilarious, the resort told KDVR that the video of their cleanup efforts served as education and awareness for littering on the mountains.

"It is also a great reminder for us and for all our guests recreating in the mountains to be mindful of our impact and leave no trace … to pack out what you bring in and to do our best to leave places better than we found them so future generations can enjoy the same recreational opportunities and environments that we are fortunate to enjoy now."

The video ended by asking future skiers to zip up their pockets and take out their trash.

Breckenridge is now open for summer activities before the next ski season, which opened in early November last year.
