EVER since it was revealed that Penelope Featherington was Lady Whistledown, Bridgerton fans have been wondering how long she can keep the secret for.
In season 3 of the Netflix series she begins a relationship with Colin Bridgerton, with viewers’ wondering if he will find out the truth.
When does Colin Bridgerton find out Penelope is Lady Whistledown?

In Bridgerton season 3 part two, Colin finally finds out that his fiancee Penelope Featherington is in fact Lady Whistledown.
The only other person who knew the identity of the gossip columnist was Penelope’s former BFF Eloise Bridgerton – Colin’s sister.
But after seeing his fiancee acting suspiciously when Queen Charlotte started to point the finger at who the ghost writer could be, Colin followed her.
This is where he saw Penelope handing over her gossip column to a local printer and he knew at once his wife-to-be was Lady Whistledown.
What happens when Penelope tells Colin she is Lady Whistledown?
Colin reacts very badly to Penelope being Lady Whistledown, mainly because of things that she has printed about his family.
The bride-to-be looked shocked and asked him if he will still marry her.
Colin looked pained, and said he would “honour” his commitment, as he made a promise and also because they had been intimate together.
He later begged Penelope to stop being Lady Whistledown, but she said she “wasn’t sure” if she could let it go.
Does Colin Bridgerton marry Penelope Featherington?
Despite all of the above happening the night before their wedding, the couple still got married.
At first they seemed happy and danced together at their wedding breakfast.
However things took a turn when Queen Charlotte accused one of the Bridgerton family of being Lady Whistledown.
Colin then begged Penelope once more to stop writing the column, but when she refused things went from bad to worst for the newlyweds.
Does Penelope come out as Lady Whistledown?
In the final part of the last episode of season 3, Penelope was finally unmasked as Lady Whistledown.
It came during a ball that she hosted for her two sisters.
During the party Queen Charlotte – who has been hunting Whistedown for years – stormed in claiming that the famous gossip columnist was in the room.
The monarch then revealed that she has worked out that Penelope was Lady Whistledown.
Penelope then stepped forward and admitted the whole thing.
The series ended with her getting her own column in a newspaper with her real name printed on it.
Fans were also thrilled to see that Penelope and Colin lived happier ever after, with a new baby as well.

Nicola Coughlan plays the role of Penelope Featherington AKA Lady Whistledown.

Speaking to People about starring in Bridgerton, actress Nicola said: “I always look at the three seasons like this.
“I think season 1 was about passion, season 2 was about longing and season 3, I think it’s romance all the way. It’s just so romantic.”
She added: “There were a lot of moments on set where we filmed something, and we’d turn around, and everyone was sort of clutching their chest being like, ‘Oh my God.’ It was that kind of love.”
Luke Newton plays Penelope’s new husband Colin Bridgerton.
The actor made his TV acting debut in 2010, for his portrayal of Luke Attwood in the BBC Two teen series The Cut.
He has since gone on to appear in the BBC soap Doctors as Sam Hern, and in the Disney Channel series The Lodge as Ben Evans.

Benedict – the second son, played by Luke Thompson, is the focus of the third book. However his romance is not the main story featured in season three of the Netflix drama, which will instead focus on his younger brother, Colin
Colin – Luke Newton plays Colin, who is a favourite with the ladies. He is also the object of desire for Penelope Featherington, who is also the mysterious Lady Whistledown. However as the season starts he is unaware of this fact, and ready to hunt down the anonymous gossip writer.
Daphne – season one introduced us to Daphne, the oldest female Bridgerton sibling. Played by Phoebe Dynevor, viewers watched her romance with Simon Bassett, the Duke of Hastings, unfold, gaining actor Regé-Jean Page many fans.
Eloise – book-loving Eloise has delighted viewers with her rebellious spirit and tomboy ways. She made her debut in society during the second season and was horrified to find that her best friend, Pen, was Lady Whistledown. Eloise is played by Claudia Jessie.
Francesca – Hannah Dodd has been brought in to play Francesca in season three, as she makes her social season debut. Francesca was played by Ruby Stokes in the first two seasons.
Gregory – Gregory is played by Will Tilston. As yet he has not played a key part in the series as he’s too young to be presented before the Queen. His story features in book eight of the series.
Hyacinth – the youngest Bridgerton sibling is played by Florence Hunt. Although younger than Gregory, Hyacinth’s story is featured in book seven.
