Sunak vows to ‘still fight’ after Reform UK overtakes Tories in poll for first time
Rishi Sunak has remained defiant after Nigel Farage’s Reform UK overtook the Conservatives in a new poll.
For the last 18 months, almost every poll has been the same: Labour ahead of the Conservatives by double digits, with other major parties trailing behind.
But a survey released just before a fiery seven-way ITV debate placed Farage’s insurgent party at 1% above the Tories.
Sunak is currently attending the G7 summit and told reporters there that he’s ‘still fighting very hard for every vote’ – and a vote for Reform is a vote for Labour.
Farage hosted a snap news conference this afternoon, similarly saying that a vote for the Conservatives is a vote for Labour.
‘I would love, as I’m now leader of the opposition – I thought that was fairly obvious to everybody – to do a head-to-head with Keir Starmer,’ he told reporters.
