SANWO-OLU REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO HEALTH INSURANCE, EDUCATION INITIATIVE
Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reiterated the commitment of his administration to the well-being of Lagos residents by providing comprehensive health insurance that ensures access to quality healthcare services.
Speaking as the special guest of honour at the launch of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) Health Insurance Scheme and the presentation of scholarships to children of Police Officers, the Governor, represented by the Special Adviser, Office of Internal Audit, Dr. Mrs. Oyeyemi Ayoola, commended the Lagos State Chapter of POWA under the leadership of Mrs. Adekemi Fayoade.
He praised the initiative’s alignment with his administration’s Health Insurance policy, which seeks to achieve universal health coverage for the teeming population of Lagos State.
He added that the provision of scholarships to deserving children of police officers aligns with the Lagos State Scholarship Board’s mission to encourage educational growth among deserving students through prompt financial assistance, fostering self-reliance and socio-economic development of the state.
Sanwo-Olu further stated that both initiatives are steps in the right direction. He, however, emphasized that more needs to be done to ensure that police officers and their families can thrive and prosper, given their dedication to duty and the personal sacrifices they make.
The Governor, therefore, thanked the Police Officers’ Wives Association for their incredible work and dedication, which will significantly advance the association and set a benchmark for others.
