LAGOS FIRST LADY URGES LBCI PARTICIPANTS TO EMULATE SUCCESSFUL PROFESSIONALS

The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday, said that young boys must learn from professionals who have succeeded in carving a niche for themselves in their respective fields to gain valuable insights, develop essential skills, and be inspired to achieve excellence in their pursuits.

The wife of the Governor, gave the advice on Thursday during a panel discussion session that featured prominent figures like renowned former Nigerian Goalkeeper, Prince Peter Rufai and popular Nigerian music producer and singer, Olumide Ogunade professionally known as ID Cabasa at the ongoing 2024 Lagos Boy Child Initiative (LBCI).

Other panelists at the event held at Lagos State Model College, Meiran included industry experts like the Founder of Footprints of David, Seun Awobajo; CEO of Ade Bakare Couture, Mr. Ade Bakare and a member of Lagos State House of Assembly representing Eti-Osa Constituency II, Hon. Engr. Olusegun Yishawu.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu stressed that all the panelists were selected for their significant contributions to their fields, making them worthy role models for the young participants. She reiterated the importance of basic education, noting that it remains accessible to all children in Lagos State. 

Highlighting her office’s efforts to address modern-day parenting challenges, with plans underway for the 2024 edition of the annual Parenting Seminar, the First Lady advised the boys to be obedient to their parents and encouraged parents to stay attuned to their children’s needs and societal trends. 

Prince Peter Rufai emphasised the importance of discipline, resilience, and continuous learning, drawing from his illustrious career in football to inspire the young audience. 

He revealed how sports can teach valuable life lessons that extend beyond the field, encouraging the LBCI participants to remain curious and open-minded, always seeking to improve and adapt, whether in sports, academics, or personal endeavours. 

On his part, Ogunade Olumide, popularly known as I.D Cabasa, known for his influential role in shaping Nigeria’s music industry, discussed the significance of creativity and innovation. 

He encouraged the boys to explore their artistic talents and stressed the need for hard work and dedication in achieving success, offering insights and practical tips on how to navigate the evolving music landscape.

Other industry experts provided diverse perspectives on career development, entrepreneurship, and personal growth for the young boys and advised them on how to navigate their futures and achieve success in entertainment and sports. 

They collectively underscored the importance of education, mentorship, and self-belief in building a successful future in sports, entertainment, politics and other spheres of life. 

2024 Lagos Boy Child Initiative, an event being hosted by the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu in Meiran area of the State started on Tuesday and witnessed several life-transforming sessions aimed at equipping young boys with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in various aspects of life. 

The initiative is dedicated to the holistic development of young boys, by bridging the gap in gender-specific empowerment programs. The initiative’s focus is to foster a generation of well-rounded, confident, and capable young men who can contribute positively to society.
